What happens each night of the week?

Monday: Industry Night, 9pm to 1am. Tuesday: Taco Tuesday ($3 tacos), two-step lessons 6 to 7:30pm ($15), karaoke 8pm to midnight. Thursday: Tomahawk Thursday, a $75 tomahawk platter, and open mic 8:30 to 11:30pm. Saturday: line dance lessons 6 to 8pm ($10) most Saturdays (check the calendar), then a band. Sunday: the Sunday Roundup, with all-day specials (a tri-tip sandwich, a Tito's Bloody Mary deal and cheaper Figueroa Mountain drafts) and happy hour from 3 to 6pm.

Bar food served from 11am. On its menu: burgers $20 to $26, a Tomahawk platter at $90 (or $75 on Tomahawk Thursday), $3 tacos on Tuesday and a Maverick Mule at $12. There's a "Lil' Mavericks" kids' section at $9 to $10, and a private-event menu for groups of 20 or more. Prices change; the current menu is on its site.

Can you bring kids to the Maverick Saloon?

The menu has a kids' section, so families do eat here in the daytime. The saloon doesn't publish an age policy for the evening or for shows, so call (805) 686-4785 before bringing children at night, and don't count on an all-ages rule for shows.

What's the history of the Maverick Saloon?

The saloon's own history page says there have been taverns on Sagunto Street since 1906. In 1963 the Thompson family bought the lots and named the bar after the James Garner TV western Maverick. The barn next door was built around 1968 as Lulubelle's Restaurant and became the saloon's dance hall in 1992. In the 1990s its Nashville2You series brought acts including Sugarland and Dierks Bentley, and the "Tales from the Tavern" songwriter series still runs each spring and fall. Look up: the ceiling is covered in signed dollar bills.

Where can I see photos and reviews?

For pictures of the dance hall and the bands, see the saloon's own Instagram, @mavericksaloonsy, and its site. We don't republish photos or reviews from Yelp, Google or Tripadvisor. What we can tell you from the published facts: it's a cash-on-the-ceiling, boots-welcome roadhouse, not a cocktail lounge.

How do you get to the Maverick Saloon, and is there a shuttle?

It's on Sagunto Street in downtown Santa Ynez, about a 3-minute drive from Chumash Casino. The saloon doesn't publish a shuttle, so plan a designated driver, a taxi or a rideshare, especially at 2am. Staying in town is easiest: see Santa Ynez hotels.
