Tuesday: peasants FEAST, Ramen Kotori, Solvang Brewing Company, Birkholm's Bakery & Cafe. Wednesday: KANOK Thai Cuisine. Thursday: everything on the grid is open. Friday: everything on the grid is open. Saturday: everything on the grid is open. Sunday: Leonardo's Ristorante & Pizzeria.

Coast Range's hours page lists dinner Sunday to Thursday 5–9pm and Friday and Saturday from 5pm to "10am" (read as 10pm); its home page says 5–10pm every night. We show the shorter hours. Whiskey 'N Rye lists dinner to 8:30pm in one place and closing at 9pm in another. We show 8:30pm. Viking Garden's home page says Monday to Sunday and its contact page Monday to Friday, so we leave its weekends blank. Call 805-688-1250. Not on the grid: Solvang Restaurant, Bit O' Denmark. Bit O' Denmark's website is down, so call before you go. Holidays and Julefest weeks can change all of this.

Dinner tonight

For a booked dinner, The Gathering Table serves French-Asian plates nightly from 5pm (to 9:30pm Friday and Saturday), and Mad & Vin at The Landsby runs dinner nightly 5–9pm. Coast Range and Cecco Ristorante take reservations too. No booking? Osteria Grappolo seats first come from 4:30pm. Check the day: Leonardo's closes Sunday, Toscana and Cecco close Monday, and peasants FEAST, Ramen Kotori and Solvang Brewing close Monday and Tuesday.

Lunch

peasants FEAST (Wednesday–Sunday from 11am) is the lunch to plan around, so go early. Ramen Kotori serves lunch noon–3pm, Wednesday to Sunday. Open every day: The Red Viking (9am–8pm) for Danish open-faced sandwiches and Copenhagen Sausage Garden from 11am. Leonardo's serves lunch 11am–4pm Monday to Saturday, and Osteria Grappolo opens at 11:30am at the weekend. Mondays, picnic sandwiches and lunch between tastings: best lunch in Solvang.

Brunch

Four weekend options, with their published hours. Coast Range serves brunch Thursday to Monday, 10am–3pm. Mad & Vin does weekend brunch 7:30am–2pm. The Gathering Table serves brunch Saturday and Sunday, 10am–2pm, and Whiskey 'N Rye 10am–1pm. For pancakes, see breakfast.

Italian

Three in the village and one just outside it. Cecco Ristorante (since 2010) makes handmade pasta and wood-fired pizza and takes reservations, 1 minute on foot from Solvang Park. Osteria Grappolo is first come, first served, with a patio. Toscana does thin-crust pizza and gelato until 9:30pm on Friday and Saturday. Leonardo's is a 3-minute drive out on Alamo Pintado Road: Chef Leonardo Curti has cooked in the valley since 1997 and says he brought in its first wood-burning Neapolitan pizza oven. More slices in our valley pizza guide.

Steak

None of the 26 places here calls itself a steakhouse, but the best steak in the village sits on Coast Range's grill menu: a 16 oz Creekstone rib eye for $84, an 8 oz filet for $58 and lamb chops for $68 (dinner menu dated Oct 8, 2026). Osteria Grappolo grills a 14 oz New York steak for $60, first come, first served. For a cheaper plate, Viking Garden's menu lists a rib eye at $24 and a New York steak at $30, and Whiskey 'N Rye is a smokehouse with a whiskey bar. The valley's famous grill is in Buellton: Hitching Post 2, cooking over red oak.

Michelin in Solvang

No. The 2026 Michelin Guide lists one restaurant in Solvang, peasants FEAST, with a Bib Gourmand for 2026 and no star [1]. Our peasants FEAST guide has the menu, plus peasants DELI a few doors down, the sandwich shop with a 90s arcade. Its other picks nearby are Bar Le Côte and The Tavern in Los Olivos and Bell's in Los Alamos, an easy dinner drive from Solvang [1]. See all four in Michelin restaurants in the Santa Ynez Valley.

Danish food

Danish food, starting with breakfast. Solvang Restaurant calls itself the home of Arne's Aebleskiver, the round Danish pancake puffs [2]. Paula's Pancake House serves Danish pancakes, large and thin with whipped cream and fruit [3]. The bakeries cover the rest: kringle and kransekage at Olsen's, bear claws and owl-eye cookies at Mortensen's [4][5]. For a sit-down Danish meal, The Red Viking does open-faced sandwiches and Scandinavian plates [6]. Bit O' Denmark serves Danish and modern European food in a 1911 former schoolhouse [7], and Viking Garden mixes Danish dishes with sandwiches and steaks.

Breakfast

For Danish pancakes, Paula's. For a modern brunch, Coast Range or Mad & Vin (see brunch). For families with a dog in tow, Brekkies has a big patio. Or keep it simple with coffee and a pastry from one of the bakeries. Our Solvang breakfast guide has hours and reservation policies for 12 morning spots.

Taking reservations

The Gathering Table and Leonardo's book on OpenTable (Leonardo's asks you to call for 6 or more). Coast Range, Cecco Ristorante, Whiskey 'N Rye, Craft House at Corque, KANOK Thai and Viking Garden also take reservations on their sites. peasants FEAST and Osteria Grappolo are first come, first served. On a December weekend during Julefest, book anything you can.

With your dog

Viking Garden and Brekkies both say so on their own sites. Solvang USA says nearly any restaurant with outdoor space will welcome dogs, and names patios at Paula's, Chomp, Copenhagen Sausage Garden, peasants FEAST, Ramen Kotori, Cecco, Osteria Grappolo, Coast Range and Craft House at Corque [8]. Ask before you sit down. Staying over with a dog? See pet-friendly hotels in Solvang.

With kids

Chomp is a '50s-style soda fountain with burgers and shakes. Brekkies says it's kid- and dog-friendly. Craft House at Corque was built around a family-friendly atmosphere, and The Red Viking has a Little Vikings menu. Staying over? Our Solvang hotels guide marks the hotels with pools.

Eating late

Most Solvang kitchens close by 9pm. Solvang Brewing Company stays open until 10:30pm, Wednesday to Sunday. Coast Range serves dinner until 10pm on Friday and Saturday, and its hours page keeps the Vaquero Bar open until midnight every night. Craft House at Corque serves dinner until 9:30pm nightly, with the bar open until 10:30pm on Friday and Saturday. On Friday and Saturday, The Gathering Table and Toscana serve until 9:30pm. After dinner, see Solvang nightlife and bars in Solvang.

Closed or renamed

First & Oak was the restaurant at Mirabelle Inn. The inn is closed for a full renovation, will relaunch as Solvang Haus, and says the on-site restaurant will not reopen [9]. Some AI assistants still recommend it. Succulent Café's old space on Mission Drive is now The Gathering Table, which closed at The Ballard Inn in 2022 and reopened here [10]. Bit O' Denmark's old web addresses no longer work (its Instagram, bito.denmark, is current), so use the phone number above. For every closure, move and rename in the valley, with dates and sources, see closed, moved and renamed in the Santa Ynez Valley.
