Pick one of Planet Ultra's three distances. The century is 104.1 miles with 5,578 feet of climbing, "lots of rolling hills" with no super-steep climbs, four aid stations and a water stop. The metric is 69.2 miles and 3,879 feet. The half, 46 miles and 2,600 feet, is a new route from 2026 through Solvang, Santa Ynez and Foxen Canyon Road. The organizer warns of rough pavement on Santa Rosa Road and Foxen Canyon. A RideWithGPS file is sent the week before.
When does registration open, and what does it cost?
Registration for 2027 opens on October 31, 2026 on RunSignUp. Standard entry, through February 20, is $165.30 for the century, $154.70 for the metric and $144.10 for the half, fees included. Late entry starts 14 days before the ride. On-site entry, if spots remain, is cash or Venmo only. Sign up by January 15 to get the tech tee.
Where should you eat and stay around the ride?
Packet pickup is Friday night and Saturday morning at the Marriott, so staying in Buellton makes the 7am start easy; see Buellton hotels. After the ride, Firestone Walker's Buellton taproom is on the same road as the Marriott, at 620 McMurray Rd, and Industrial Eats and Figueroa Mountain Brewing are on Industrial Way.
