How many tasting rooms are in Los Olivos?
More than 20. The Fess Parker Wine Country Inn counts over 20 within walking distance, and the Los Olivos business association's wine & beer directory lists 24 members. Some of those are estates outside town, such as Andrew Murray and Fess Parker Winery on Foxen Canyon Road. That's far more than you can do in a day. Budget 60 to 90 minutes for a seated flight like Brewer-Clifton's, and pick three or four rooms.
Do Los Olivos tasting rooms require reservations?
Not usually, for a couple or a small group. Dragonette says walk-ins are allowed but reservations take precedence. Brewer-Clifton prefers appointments but welcomes walk-ins, and SAMsARA and Evan's Ranch both welcome walk-ins. Stolpman is the exception: it strongly encourages reservations. Refugio Ranch asks groups of 9 or more to call. The Santa Barbara Vintners say most wineries require reservations for groups of six to eight or more.
How much does wine tasting in Los Olivos cost?
Expect $25–35 a person where a fee is published: Stolpman $25, SAMsARA $30 for five wines and Brewer-Clifton $25 or $35. Club members usually taste free. Carhartt charges $25 for five wines, waived with a three-bottle purchase. Coquelicot, Refugio Ranch and Dragonette don't post a fee (Dragonette calls it "a small fee"), so check when you book. For prices across the valley, see Santa Ynez Valley wineries.
Where to eat lunch between tastings?
Everything is a short walk away. Bar Le Côte is a seafood tavern, and The Tavern at Mattei's Tavern serves seasonal California food. Los Olivos Café has been farm-to-table since 1995, with produce from its own organic farm. For something faster, Lucky Penny does wood-fired pizza you can eat on its picnic patio or carry to a tasting room, and Panino makes sandwiches. Tasting at Carhartt? The Chef's Touch BBQ Rig usually parks right out front with brisket and pulled pork sandwiches; check its Instagram for the day's hours. Before you plan lunch, see which Los Olivos restaurants are open today: Bar Le Côte closes Monday and Tuesday, and Refugio Ranch cooks only Friday to Sunday. Staying the night? See Los Olivos hotels.
Where to stay and eat near the tasting rooms
Make a weekend of it: Fess Parker Wine Country Inn: know before you go counts over 20 tasting rooms within walking distance, and The Inn at Mattei's Tavern: know before you go is on Railway Avenue in town. For appointment-only labels, see cult wineries and how to get in.

New on Alamo Pintado Avenue: Ashkahn Wines opened in June 2026 in the tiny room that once held Margerum and Knife & Barrel, and it is the first tasting room in Los Olivos pouring strictly zero-zero wines: nothing added, nothing filtered out. Expect four wines on the menu, a neon sign, shelves of the owner's own greeting cards and a snail mail station in back. Winemaker Ash Shahparnia, an artist from Los Angeles before he turned to wine, is usually the one pouring. Find it at 2446 Alamo Pintado Ave, Suite B.
