Which Santa Ynez Valley wineries have lodging?

Seven wineries rent rooms or whole houses on their own land. Most are private homes, not hotels, so there is no front desk and you book by the night.

Which winery stay fits your group?

For two, take a Sunstone suite, Pico Cottage (from $139 on weeknights) or a one-queen cottage at Piocho Ranch. For four to six, look at the Retreat at 11 Oaks, Casa de Azul y Oro or the Rhône and Bordeaux suites together at Sunstone, which sleep eight. For ten, book the Crossroads Estate, Grassini's five-king-bedroom La Tarantella, the Roblar Farmhouse or a whole Sunstone house.

With a dog, the options shrink: Sunstone, Carhartt and Firestone say no pets, so look at Mattei's Tavern, the Ballard Inn ($40 a night) or the dog-friendly cabins at Fess Parker.

Should you book a vineyard Airbnb or book direct?

Follow the winery's own site. Sunstone, Carhartt, Firestone, Happy Canyon and the inns take bookings direct, and Carhartt and Happy Canyon give club members a lower rate or a free night. Brander, Pico and Bodega send you to Airbnb, though Brander club members get priority and a discount by emailing casa@brander.com. Roblar's Farmhouse and Grassini's La Tarantella are by inquiry only.

Many Airbnb listings say "vineyard view" without being on a winery, so check that the owner's own site links to the listing. To see whether a rental is allowed where it sits, read our vacation rental rules by town.

What has changed at valley winery stays?

Three things older listings still get wrong. Sunstone's Guest Cottage is new: it opened for overnight stays in May 2026, separate from the Villa, and through Dec 31, 2026 the third night is free [2]. The Ballard Inn no longer has the Gathering Table; chef Budi Kazali reopened it at 1557 Mission Drive in Solvang, and the inn serves breakfast and wine hour only [3]. And the Mirabelle Inn in Solvang is closed for a full renovation; it will reopen as Solvang Haus under new owners, and its restaurant will not come back [1].

Know-before-you-go guides for five of these: the Inn at Mattei's Tavern, the Fess Parker Wine Country Inn, Skyview Los Alamos, the Ballard Inn and Alisal Ranch. Coming to the valley for a wedding? See our wedding guest guide. For hotels by town, see Los Olivos hotels, Santa Ynez hotels and where to stay in Los Alamos.
